Dr. Sherritta Abell

Teachers and students are working hard to get ready for the end of year assessment Georgia Milestones in April. Some of the homework that teachers will send home will be review and practice for students. This work is very important for improving skills that are needed to be developed for preparation for the Georgia Milestone Test. We do appreciate your support with assisting your child with assignments that focus on drills and skills development.

We appreciate parents working with us on signing in before visiting the building in the mornings. If we can cut down on unannounced parent conferences with teachers we can allow teachers more time to work with students who need extra support during early morning hours. (Morning is often the only time a teacher can work one-on-one with a student who needs extra support.) Thank you for your support of this wonderful effort teachers are making to support learning for students. I also need your help in the mornings and afternoons while dropping off and picking up your student(s): please keep an eye on the car in front of you while talking/texting on your phone, so no accidents happen.

Our lost and found is growing every day. Please make sure your child’s name is on the inside label of every coat, jacket, sweater, etc.  This will help us locate your child and return lost items.  As the weather gets colder, students will be going outside for recess if temperatures are above 40 degrees. Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.

Please remember that students should not arrive before 7:15 a.m. There is no adult supervision if a student should arrive before that. Keeping this in mind will help with the safety of all of our students. Please remember not to drop your child off in the bus lane or before you are assisted by a staff member on duty. Finally, we cannot accept any dismissal changes after 1:00 p.m. unless it is an emergency.

Thanks again for all that you do to partner with and support Annette Winn.  If you have questions, please contact Dr. Abell at 770-651-3100. I am looking forward to seeing each of you soon at one of our upcoming events.
