Dear Dedicated Wildcat Students and Parents!

Are you ready?!?!? We are! On behalf of our faculty and staff, we would like to welcome our new and returning students to Annette Winn Elementary School.  I hope you are excited and ready for a year full of learning and fun because...EVERY DAY is a great day to be a Wildcat!

It is my hope that everyone can join us on August 1st for Sneak a Peek, 4:30PM.  Don’t miss this opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and get important transportation information. The first day of school is August 3rd.  School hours are 7:40 am - 2:25 pm. School doors will open at 7:00 am, and school will begin promptly at 7:40 am. Students must report to their homeroom classrooms unless they need to have breakfast.  Students needing breakfast will report to the cafeteria. This year, students will be required to pay for their meals unless he/she qualifies for a Free or Reduced meal. Please complete a Free and Reduced Meal Application at www.schoolcafe.com. Prices will be posted on the school website and Class Dojo. Your child will be back to a regular schedule, getting to know their new teachers, making and reconnecting with friends, engaging in lessons, and participating in after-school activities.

Communication and involvement are extremely important to us at Annette Winn Elementary School. Please be sure to sign up for Class Dojo, as well as, “Like” us on our Facebook page @AWESFang. All updates, current events, and opportunities for you to be involved in our school community will be posted on these sites. Our Parent/Student Handbook and school supply lists can also be found on the AWES website (awes.dcssga.org). This useful resource has arrival and dismissal procedures that you won’t want to miss. Your child’s timely arrival at school is important so that your child does not miss out on instructional lessons and activities.  Parents of car riders, please pack your patience and consider leaving home a few minutes early in the morning, while expecting to wait a few minutes longer during pick up in the afternoon on the first few days of school.

Our goal at Annette Winn is to help each child reach his or her full potential in a safe and welcoming environment. We look forward to partnering with you as we work together to make this the best year ever! We believe success is a team effort, and everyone has a part to play if we are going to reach our goals. On behalf of the staff, thank you for entrusting us with your child! Once again, welcome back and LET’S GO WILDCATS!!

Sincerely,

Dr. Sherritta Abell, AWES Principal
