21st CCLC - Star Club

**For questions or concerns in relation to program spending or suspected misappropriation of these federal dollars, please contact the Douglas County School System finance office or call 770.651.2262.

21st CCLC is to establish or expand after school programs that provide students with academic enrichment opportunities along with activities designed to complement the students' regular academic program.

The Program provides the following:

  • Highly qualified Teachers and Paraprofessionals

  • Nutritious Supper

  • Homework assistance (Monday through Thursday, 30 minutes per day)

  • Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies and Writing Assistance and Remediation through engaging tutoring tasks

  • Structured Physical Education/Movement

  • Character Education

  • Hands on Enrichment Centers that integrates math, reading, science, art, technology, and writing

  • Transportation is provided within district

  • Social/Emotional Interactive tasks

STAR Club is not a program that assists children with only homework. We must offer enrichment, tutoring, and social interaction. Students must attend daily for the duration of the program. The hours are 2:40 PM-5:15 PM, Monday  through Friday. Absences will require an excuse, and excessive absences will require a program conference. A student may be removed from the program for excessive and consecutive absences.

The 21st CCLC grant is not a drop in program. Students must come every week for the entire year. The program has a limited number of slots, and is an invite only program. Enrollment is based on identified social and academic needs as seen by the student's teacher.

Parents will be required to attend 5 parent sessions, orientation counts as one, by the end of the school year. There will be several surveys that will go home. We ask that you complete and return the surveys as soon as possible. More importantly, please communicate with the 21st CCLC Teacher if you have any concerns or celebrations about your student.
