Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month & Student Voices! 📚❤️
On Tuesday, October 6, Douglas County ESOL teachers hosted a special English Learner Parent Meeting in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month! Students from elementary, middle, and high schools were invited to participate in this meaningful celebration of culture, language, and community.
🌟 A special shoutout to Luka and Luciano Gutierrez Ibarra! These two outstanding students wrote and shared their personal experiences of learning English and making new friends in the United States.
With confidence and courage, Luka and Luciano read their writing aloud to an audience of parents, teachers, students, and district office staff. They did an AMAZING job! 👏👏
Their stories remind us that learning a new language is more than learning words. It's about building friendships, finding your voice, and feeling a sense of belonging. ❤️
We are so proud of Luka and Luciano for representing our school and sharing their stories! 🌟
